Grizzabella

I snapped this photo of Grizzabella as she waited for her mom to come home.

Each night, Carol takes our two senior dogs for their own special walks through the neighborhood.  In this case, Carol was exercising Princess.  Grizz-girl is always treated to the first walk and had already been around the block tonight.

Somehow, Grizz believes she should taken for a second walk when Carol returns home.  But we know better.  Old dog bones and muscles are watched carefully at the Jensen Zoo.  Too much exercise is not a good thing for our sweet Grizz.

I always love looking at the texture in her face and the spark in her eyes.

She can't take a bad photo - even with my iPhone!

Puppy Love

One of my personal all-time favorites is this portrait I call Puppy Love.
This was captured in 1992 - a couple years after beginning the Pet Patrol Program with Friends of Pets and Anchorage Daily News.
Since then, we've photographed more than 1,500 dogs and cats who have all found homes thanks to FOP.

This portrait will appear in It's Important to Paws, The Book, if we can rally the remaining 50% funding needed for publication.

Thank you for your pledges! We're more than half-way there!!!
This book is really important to me personally and professionally.  I need your help to make it happen.

Thank you for everything you do to help dogs, cats and other animal companions.

Celebrate.

Cassie and I installed a new exhibit at Providence Hospital's Heart Center today.  The portraits were the result of work we completed at Providence Hospital's Horizon House early this year.

At Horizon House, residents are allowed to include four-legged family members as a part of their homes.  Cats, dogs and birds help make Horizon House home for many seniors.

Shown here:  Tasha.  She is one of two dogs that virtually everyone knows.  As you can probably see, she's a senior, too.

The portraits at Providence include captioned quotes from the residents at HH.  This was an amazing, inspiring and sentimental project for everyone at the studio.  It meant so much to us.

Installing the exhibit at the Heart Center today was something of gift to myself, as well.  I turned 56 years old today. I pray that I'll be able to share the rest of my life with dogs or cats throughout the rest of my own life.

That would be a blessing, indeed.

Kelsey. Class of 2013

Fun day with the Lindahl family as they continue celebrating Kelsey's graduation from Service High School.    Ceremonies are this week and somehow they managed to find time to visit the studio for portraits.

Congratulations to Kelsey and the entire graduating class of 2013.

The Book: It's Important to Paws.

After years of work and heart-felt effort, I'm proud to unveil my book for the first time.

It's Important to Paws

I hope you'll help support my dream of making this book come true by visiting one of the following links and learning more about this premiere book.  It's Imortant to Paws is fun, eclectic and meaningful.  The writing and photography is completed.  The contents match the title.  I really want this book to be something that makes a difference.

  • 200+ Pages
  • 200+ Animal Companions
  • Observations as told by cats and dogs.
  • Full Color.  Hardbound.  Coffee-table-style.
  • A gift to you or someone else who loves dogs, cats, horses, birds, reptiles and more.

Now, it's time to make it happen ... with help from friends and others who understand where my heart is when it comes to animal companions.  It's a passion I share with everyone who has shared their dogs, cats and other pets with me in the studio over the past 25 years.

Please call me at the studio if you have questions about It's Important to Paws.

I've always been a dreamer, an entrepreneur and sentimentalist (is that really a word?)  This book is just the introduction of what will truly be 'important to paws.'  Thank you for your support, love and consideration.
